Nastoykas (Tinctures)

   Rose schnapps - based on flower buds from any highly fragrant garden rose or wild rose - is really delicious. Rose schnapps blends very well with many flavoured schnappses based on roots, stems and leaves. Serve with light foods or enjoy it on its own as an aperitif.
Rose Schnapps

A couple of rose buds
Unflavoured vodka - 40% alcohol content (80 proof)
Remove the green sepals with a sharp knife. Put a couple of rose buds in a clean glass jar with tight-fitting lid. Cover with approx. 2-3 deciliter clear, unflavoured vodka - 40% alcohol content (80 proof). Let steep for 1-3 days in a dark place at room temperature, 18-20°C (64-68°F). Shake lightly and taste it from time to time. Strain and filter your infusion into a clean glass bottle or jar with tight-fitting lid. Store (age) for at least 2 months in a dark place at room temperature before serving.
