Ginger liqueur can be made with a variety of ginger. Herbs are often added along with the ginger to a base spirit which is most commonly brandy, although rum and neutral spirits are also used. Ginger brandy is often used to describe ginger-flavored brandy which is the most common ginger-flavored liqueur available. | |
Ginger Liqueur 1 Ingredients: 1/2 c Crystalized ginger 2 c Vodka 1/2 c Sugar syrup Instructions: Add all ingredients together. Steep for 2 weeks. Strain and its ready to serve. |

Ginger Liqueur 2 Ingredients: 1 cup white sugar 1/2 cup light brown sugar, firmly packed 1 1/4 cups water 3 tablespoons chopped ginger root 3 whole cloves 1 teaspoon black cardamom seeds 1 teaspoon orange zest 1 cup 100-proof vodka 1/2 cup brandy Instructions: Bring white sugar, brown sugar and water to boil. Add ginger root, cloves and cardamom and boil for 5 minutes. Remove from heat and stand until just warm. Strain out solids. Pour liquid into a clean, 1-quart jar. Add orange zest, vodka and brandy. Cover and let stamd in a cool, dark place for 1 month. |

Ginger Liqueur 3 Ingredients: 1 cup honey 1 cup water 3 tablespoons chopped gingerroot 1 teaspoon lemon, zest of 1 1/2 cups Scotch whisky Instructions: Bring honey and water to boil for 3-5 minutes. Skim off any foam that rises to the surface. Add ginger root and lemon zest. Boil for an additonal 4 minutes. Remove from heat and let stand until just warm. Strain solids from liquid mixture into a medium bowl. Transfer solids to coffe filter and squeeze out any remaining liquid with your hands. Transfer liquid to a clean 1-quart container. Add Whisky, store in a cool, dark place for 1 month. After storing for one month take the liquid and pour the liquid through a coffee filter and into into final serving container. Age for 2 more weeks before serving. |
